Janet McCammond Jennings, born Janet Leigh McCammond on December 12, 1957 in Iowa City, Iowa to parents Shirley Pease McCammond and Dr. John McCammond.
Janet was raised in Kearney, Nebraska. She earned a degree in Computer Science from University of Iowa. She worked in the computer industry until 1986.
In August 15, 1981, she married Bob Jennings. They have two sons, Thomas Lee, born January 29, 1985, and Daniel Lee, born April 17, 1987.
Janet has been very loyal to her husband and family through the years. Supporting her husband pursue his career, she has lived in Chile, Texas, California, and Iowa.
The welfare of children is important to Janet as she has coordinated KidsFest in Des Moines since 1993. KidsFest is a celebration of children that brings valuable information to parents in a festival environment fun for the whole family.
Janet considers her mother to be her mentor. Janet said, "She set goals for herself and wasn’t afraid to pursue and reach them, even if they went against the norm at the time. She taught her daughters that it was okay to have dreams for themselves."
