Ruth Gugeler Larson

Brick Section B - Row 19

Wife, Mother, Chemist

Ruth Gugeler received a degree in chemistry from Iowa State University in 1952 and worked briefly as a chemist for Dow Coming Corporation. She sacrificed professional life to raise a family. Her dedication to family was strong and two of her three children, Janet and John, grew to responsible citizens. Her life was saddened by the loss of a teenage son, Richard, in an accident. She later undertook work in her chosen profession. She became a supporter of programs to enhance the status of women
and was an early contributor to the establishment of the Carrie Chapman Catt Center for Women and Politics. 3/5/94
