Mona L. Martin

Davenport, Iowa

Brick Section B - Row 15

Mona Martin has long upheld the League of Women Voters' principal that good government depends upon the informed and active participation of its citizens.

As a former League of Women Voters state and local president, she worked to inform Iowa citizens about issues such as redistricting, energy policies and education.

She also has been a long time active participant in the political process. Mona served on the Davenport Plan and Zone Commission, as well as several other governmental committees (see enclosure below), to help shape her local community.

In 1992, Mona was elected to the state legislature to represent House District 43. As a legislator, she strives to make informed decisions about issues affecting all citizens in the state of Iowa.

Mona has followed the example of Carrie Chapman Catt and deserves a spot in the Plaza of Heroines.
