Ruth counseled and contributed to living skills of junior high school girls for more
than 20 years. Her meals were top-notch as you would expect from a Foods & Nutrition teacher. And she was the wind beneath the wings of her husband and two sons.

Born June 18, 1901, in Villisca, IA. Died April 18, 1991, Davenport, IA. Grew up in Ames. Graduated with B.S. in Home Economics from ISU in 1924. Married, 2 children. Taught Home Economics at J.B. Young Junior High School, 1944-1966. One of the first married female

schoolteachers in the Davenport Public School System. Charter member of Octave Thanet Book Club in Davenport. 7/1/96
