Clara Wyatt Martens

Manning, Iowa

Brick Section B - Row 9

Mother: Clara Wyatt Martens graduated from Nebraska Wesleyan College in 1930. She grew up in a family that stressed the importance of education. Her mother completed one year of college about 1902, and her father and his brother laid cement sidewalks in Lincoln to put themselves through college and medical school. Four of the five children in this family earned bachelor's or professional degrees. When I think of my mother, I think of her zest for life, her wonderful sense of humor, her creativity in designing many knitting projects
and sharing that interest in her community, and her many friends. 10/13/94
