Allene Bell Oderkirk

Brick Section B - Row 12

In 1928, a lovely southern lady came from Alabama to Iowa State College to earn a Master of Science Degree and return to supervise Home Economics teachers in her state. While a student in Ames, she met and eventually married Burton Stanley Oderkirk who was a member the Iowa State faculty. In time she became the mother of three daughters - Ellen, Ida, and Lila. She became a widow far too young yet loved, taught, and inspired them into adulthood.

During her eighty years, Allene Bell Oderkirk touched countless lives both young
and old with her capability, gentleness, patience, insight, determined spirit, and great capacity to adjust to all of life's happenings. She was a woman whose life was one to emulate and celebrate. 5/15/94
