Iris Young Rasmussen is a daughter and a daughter-in-law, a mother of five, a mother-in-law to an equal number, a grandmother to eight (and counting!), a wife for nearly 40 years, a sister to three and a friend to many. But, most importantly, she is my mother.
I have learned a lot from her - the value of good education and hard work, the importance of honesty and personal integrity, and the importance of a strong and solid family. All of this she imparted with an understated calm, a wisdom that permitted me and my siblings to learn these things from the example of her life, not from lectures and preaching.
