UPDATE ON CAMPAIGN IOWA STATE
The College of Liberal Arts and Sciences has reached the halfway point to its fundraising goal in Campaign Iowa State With Pride and Purpose. More than $32.2 has been raised toward the overall goal of $65 million.
LAS has also exceeded its $10 million annual fundraising goal six months ahead of schedule with indications that FY08 contributions will reach a record level.
Overall Campaign Iowa State has raised $542 million of the $800 million stated goal as of December 31, 2007.
WOMEN IMPACTING ISU CALENDAR
Twelve women whose leadership has made a difference at Iowa State are honored by the Carrie Chapman Catt Center for Women and Politics on the second annual "Women Impacting ISU" calendar. Six Iowa State students and six faculty and staff members are included on this year's calendar.

LECTURES
A pair of lectures featuring alumni from the College of Liberal Arts and Sciences will be held next week in the Memorial Union. Trudy Huskamp Peterson, former archivist of the United States, will speak on Monday, January 28, at 8 p.m. in the Sun Room. Peterson will speak on her experiences working with archives in several countries.
Then a day later, Elizabeth Andre will speak at 7 p.m. in The Gallery about her journey through the Arctic to highlight global warming.

NEW FACULTY AWARD
The Center for Excellence in the Arts and Humanities has announced a new award for faculty in the arts and humanities. "Collaborative Arts and Humanities Grant Writing Award" will fund two tenured scholars / artists from two different arts and humanities disciplines to collaborate on writing an external grant on the topic of value to the arts, to design, and to the humanities.
This $10,000 award ($5000 / participant) will provide a full or partial teaching release during one semester (2008-09) or, if preferred, provide summer salary support of up to $5,000 for one month of the summer (July 2008 or June 2009).
Deadline for the submitting applications is April 8, 2008.

ARTS
A Broadway musical classic and an original production highlight the spring 2008 ISU Theatre season. "A Funny Thing Happened on the Way to the Forum" is this year's Stars Over VEISHEA production, while ISU Theatre's Jane Cox has written an original play, "Love and Honor," about four young men from Iowa and their journeys through the American Civil War.
