    ACADEMIC NEWS
    GRADUATION AWARDS CEREMONY - The College of Liberal Arts and Sciences asks that all its graduating seniors attend Iowa State's graduation ceremony on Saturday, May 5, at 1:30 p.m. in Hilton Coliseum. LAS does not hold an individual graduation ceremony for its students.

    Two Graduation Awards Ceremonies will be held for students graduating from the Honors Program and/or with distinction (3.5 cumulative GPA at the conclusion of the 2006 Fall Semester). The ceremonies will be held Friday, May 4, at 4 & 5:30 p.m. in Fisher Theater. Students eligible for this ceremony should go-line to determine which ceremony they should attend.

    MULTICULTURAL RECOGNITION - LAS Multicultural Student Services will hold an academic recognition reception Sunday, March 25, at 6 p.m. in the Great Hall of the Memorial Union. A program will begin at 6:30 p.m. to honor students of color for their academic excellence during the 2006 spring and/or fall semesters.

    HONORS PROGRAM - The final informational meeting for LAS Honors Program students is scheduled Thursday, March 22, at 4 p.m. in 353 Catt Hall. The college requirements for graduating in Honors will be reviewed as well as a general overview of the program and the students' Honors projects.

    SCHOLARSHIPS
    CATT CENTER - A variety of scholarships are available from the Catt Center for Women and Politics including for leadership experience, Polk County residents, political science majors, and family and consumer science majors. Most scholarships are $1,000 and have minimal requirements. Contact Chris Fowler at 294-4382 or cfowler@iastate.edu for more information.

    STUDY ABROAD SCHOLARSHIPS - LAS students who are planning to study abroad during the 2007 fall semester can apply for a LAS study abroad scholarship. The deadline is April 15.

    STUDENT GROUPS
    NEW GROUP INFO MEETING - An information meeting for a new student organization, the LAS Dean's Leadership Team, will be held Tuesday, March 20, at 5 p.m. in 302 Catt Hall. The new group will, among other projects, help plan student activities within the College including VEISHEA events and a week-long LAS student celebration in the fall semester.

    FEATURED STUDENTS
    INTERNATIONAL AWARDS -LAS students Karin Brandt and Cilia Maria Ruiz-Paz will be recognized with the LAS Student International Excellence Award during the college's annual International Dinner Wednesday, March 21.     "Intimate Apparel" - ISU Theatre will present "Intimate Apparel," a new American drama in the M-Shop March 22-25.
