    VEISHEA
    A CELEBRATION 150 YEARS IN THE MAKING - A gala kickoff celebration is planned for Iowa State's Sesquicentennial during VEISHEA and the College of Liberal Arts and Sciences will be out in force for the event. Tents and displays will be placed on Central Campus just south of Catt Hall.

    VEISHEA THURSDAY IS LAS DAY - The College of Liberal Arts and Sciences is sponsoring Thursday's VEISHEA activities on Central Campus. Performances by the GROOVE drumline and readings by the creative writing program in the Department of English will be mixed in with First Amendment Day activities from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m.

    ICE CREAM SOCIAL - The LAS Council will host a free ice cream social Thursday, April 19, beginning at 2 p.m. in front of Catt Hall.

    ACADEMIC NEWS
    GRADUATION AWARDS CEREMONY - The College of Liberal Arts and Sciences asks that all its graduating seniors attend Iowa State's graduation ceremony on Saturday, May 5, at 1:30 p.m. in Hilton Coliseum. LAS does not hold an individual graduation ceremony for its students.

    Two Graduation Awards Ceremonies will be held for students graduating from the Honors Program and/or with distinction (3.5 cumulative GPA at the conclusion of the 2006 Fall Semester). The ceremonies will be held Friday, May 4, at 4 & 5:30 p.m. in Fisher Theater. Students eligible for this ceremony should go-line to determine which ceremony they should attend.

    "THE MUSIC MAN" - The Department of Music and ISU Theatre, in conjunction with VEISHEA, will present the quintessential Iowa musical, "The Music Man," Friday and Saturday, April 20-21, at 7 p.m. in Stephens Auditorium.

    ALL THAT JAZZ - There will be a lot of jazz Saturday, April 21, as the first annual ISU Jazz Festival will be held in conjunction with VEISHEA in the patio between the Music Hall and Carver Hall. Iowa State jazz ensembles will play continuous music from 1-6 p.m.
