Development officers in the College of Liberal Arts and Sciences are on
the road in the initial phase of obtaining donations for the upcoming fundraising
campaign.
The campaign coordinated by the ISU Foundation won't officially kickoff
until October 200 and will be publicly announced next fall. The final LAS
goal announcemen will be made in conjunction with that event.
The LAS campaign is broken into four areas:
Faculty support:
LAS is seeking to recruit and retain distinguished faculty in its 19 academic
departments and one professional school with the addition of 30 endowed
faculty positions ranging from endowed fellowships to endowed chairs.
Capital projects:
The bulk of the efforts in this area including raising funds for a new chemistry
building and for an addition to Snedecor Hall. Additional funding will be
sought for improvements to the Department of Geological and Atmospheric
Science's field camp in Wyoming.
Programmatic support:
Two years ago LAS faculty submitted many proposals as prospective campaign
priorities. As development officers visit with prospective donors about
their interests in LAS, they can refer to a menu of the submitted projects
in order to match a donor's interest with the college's priorities.
Student support:
An additional 100 endowed scholarships are being sought as well as 50 endowed
Dean's Scholarships and 20 endowed graduate fellowships.
Alsatia Mellecker is the LAS senior director of development. She is assisted
by Michael Gens and Stephanie Greiner, both LAS directors of development.
There are several development officers housed at the ISU Foundation office
who are also very involved in the campaign on behalf of LAS.
