The Ames
Piano Quartet, the resident chamber music
ensemble at Iowa State University, will present a faculty recital in the
Martha-Ellen Tye Recital Hall on the Iowa State campus on Sunday, Oct.
20. The concert, which is free to the public, will begin at 7:30 p.m.
The program will feature performances by the Ames Piano Quartet of "Quartet
in C Minor, Op. 7," Vitezslav Novak; "Quartet in D Major, Op.
23," Antonin Dvorak; and "Quartet (1942)," Bohuslav Martinu.
The Ames Piano Quartet was founded in 1976 as resident ensemble at Iowa
State. Since that time, the Quartet has performed over 500 professional
engagements in 40 states, in Austria, France, and the Far East.
In the past 10 years, the Quartet has released seven critically acclaimed
compact discs, the first on the Musical Heritage Society label, and subsequent
ones with Dorian Recordings. The American
Record Guide named the Quartet's CD of the Dvorak piano quartets "one
of the best chamber music recordings of the century."
Members of the group include William
