Professor at Iowa State's Semester in Florence Program to give address on campus

Niccolo Capponi, a teacher of political science courses for Iowa State University's "Semester in Florence" program will present a lecture Monday, March 19, on campus.

A noted Italian political scientist and authority on European military history and politics, Capponi will speak on "Victory of the West: The Story of the Battle of Lepanto, 1571" at 7:30 p.m. in 125 Music Hall.

The lecture is free and open to the public.

Capponi's lecture will look at his new book on the subject, which is the definitive account of the decisive battle between Islam and the West - a story of "squabbling princes, fragile alliances and a truly unexpected victory."
