LAS Career Fair also includes seminar series

The sluggish economy seemingly hasn't affected the LAS career fairs later this month. Steve Kravinsky, director of LAS' Career Management Service, expects as many or more employers and organizations to participate.

The ninth annual Social Services Volunteer and Career Day is Tuesday, Sept. 16, 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the Memorial Union. Kravinsky said about 45 government agencies, police departments, non-profit agencies and other organizations looking for workers or, more likely, volunteers will be present. Five hundred students are expected to attend.

The larger event, the LAS/College of Business Career Fair, will attract 3,000 students to Hilton Coliseum Wednesday, Sept. 24, from noon to 6 p.m. A month before the event, Kravinsky had 173 businesses and organizations lined up, and he believes they will match the 187 who attended last year.
