From Debt to Dollars: Financial Empowerment for Young Women Workshop set at Iowa State

"From Debt to Dollars," a financial workshop designed to educate young women on the importance of understanding and improving their financial situations will be held at Iowa State University Saturday, Feb. 17.

The second annual workshop is sponsored by the Catt Associates, a student organization affiliated with the College of Liberal Arts and Sciences' Catt Center for Women and Politics. The student group has received financial support for the workshop from Citigroup.

The workshop will be held from 9 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 17, in the Memorial Union. Participation is free and includes breakfast, lunch, instruction and workshop materials. An application form is available on-line at www.iastate.edu/~cccatt/home.html. The workshop is limited to the first 100 students who register.

Shonna Jacobs with Citigroup Financial Education will be the workshop's keynote speaker.

"From Debt to Dollars" includes three topical sessions. All workshop participants will discover how to invest their money wisely in the "Stock, Bonds, 401Ks, Oh My!" session and how to build good credit in the "Tomorrow's Another Day: Say Goodbye to Debt" session.

"Show Me the Money, then How to Manage It" session will focus on the decisions undergraduate students will need to make during college. "Hasta la Vista, Baby" will show graduate and graduating students how to prepare for financial decisions after college.
