CEAH director search under way

Nominations and applications are being accepted for director of the Center for Excellence in the Arts and Humanities (CEAH). Only ISU tenured faculty will be considered for the position.

Current CEAH director Brenda Daly, University Professor of English, plans to retire on July 1.

"The past three years have been exciting, not only because I have learned so much, but because I have had the opportunity to work with colleagues in many different disciplines," Daly commented. 

The director provides leadership in achieving the Center's mission: creating visibility and focus for scholarship in the arts and humanities at ISU as well as public engagement. The director encourages and supports interdisciplinary cooperation between the arts and humanities and other areas of scholarship on campus, enhances programming in the arts and humanities for all students, and seeks to promote and invigorate cultural activities and cultural diversity on campus, in the community, and within the State of Iowa. The Director functions as an advocate for the arts and humanities and seeks support for humanistic inquiry.
        
The director reports to the Vice President for Research and Economic Development and also works with the CEAH Steering Committee as well as a community advisory committee that provide assistance and support in the implementation of the Center's objectives.
        
The search committee, chaired by Zora Zimmerman, associate dean of the College of Liberal Arts and Sciences, includes Dawn Bratsch-Prince, chair , Department of World Languages and Cultures; Charles Dobbs, chair, Department of History; Sylvia Munsen, associate professor, Department of Music; Teresa Paschke, associate professor, Department of Art and Design; Lee Poague, professor, Department of English; Steve Rodermel, professor, Department of Genetics, Development and Cell Biology; Alan Russell, professor, Department of Materials Science and Engineering; Kate Schwennsen, associate dean, College of Design; Kathy Svec, program coordinator, Memorial Union; and Clark Wolf, associate professor, Department of Philosophy and Religious Studies,
