LARGE CLASS MASTERS
This year's College of Liberal Arts and Sciences Master Teacher class will hold a special forum to discuss "best practices for teaching large classes." The forum, which is co-sponsored by LAS and the Center for Excellence in Learning and Teaching (CELT), will be held Thursday, February 28, in the Campanile Room of the Memorial Union from 3:30-5 p.m.

BEST PRACTICES
The third in a series of four faculty development workshops will be held Wednesday, March 12, from 3-5 p.m. in The Gallery of the Memorial Union. "Promotion and Tenure: Expectations and Best Practices" will cover such topics as portfolio preparation, “dos and don’ts” along the way, LAS P&T policy, and scholarly expectations.
Faculty should RSVP by Friday, March 7, to lge@iastate.edu or 4-6426. Pre-tenure faculty can invite their faculty member to the event.
LAS HUMANITIES / SOCIAL SCIENCES GRANTS
The College of Liberal Arts and Sciences is accepting applications for its Humanities and Social Sciences Research Grants. The grants provide "seed money" to begin research or scholarship that is expected to continue developing and to attract funding from other sources. Completed applications are due in departmental offices on March 7 with applications due in the LAS Office on March 21.

NEH SUMMER STIPEND
The College of Liberal Arts and Sciences and the Center for Excellence in the Arts and Humanities will hold a luncheon to discuss the National Endowment for Humanities Summer Stipend. John Monroe, assistant professor of history, will be the guest speaker. Monroe has received a NEH Summer Stipend and has served on the NEH panel that reviews the applications. The free luncheon is Wednesday, March 5, at 11:45 a.m. in 302 Catt Hall. Please RSVP to Laura Engelson at lge@iastate.edu.

ARTS
ISU Theatre will present the premiere of a new Jane Cox play this month. “Love and Honor,” a story of Iowans in the Civil War, will be performed February 29, March 1, 7 and 8 at 7:30 p.m. and at 2 p.m. on Sunday, March 2 and 9, in Fisher Theater.
