Fanfare concert kicks off school year, benefits student scholarship fund
Celebrate the beginning of the new academic year with the Iowa State University music faculty in a concert benefiting the Department of Music student scholarship fund.
The "Fanfare Concert" features the diverse artistry of the Iowa State music faculty on Friday, Sept. 7, at 7:30 p.m. in Martha-Ellen Tye Recital Hall on the ISU campus.
All proceeds from the special performance will go into the music scholarship fund.
"This is a great way to hear the tremendous musicians who make up the Iowa State music faculty," said Michael Golemo, associate professor and chair of the Department of Music. "The concert also will help support many talented student musicians in our department."
A concert last September featuring several Iowa State music faculty celebrated the "reopening" of the newly remodeled Martha-Ellen Tye Recital Hall. The concert’s positive response led to the encore performance this year.
"We will include a little bit of everything," Golemo added. "It will be a fast-paced and very enjoyable concert."
The program will feature brass, woodwind, vocal, organ, piano, harpsichord and percussion performances. The Ames Piano Quartet, consisting of ISU music faculty, and the ISU Brass Choir, student musicians from the ISU Wind Ensemble, will also perform.
All tickets are $20 and may be purchased at the door. Advance tickets are available at Music Hall, room 149, or by calling (515) 294-5364. Individuals buying three tickets in advance can receive a fourth one free.
A reception will follow the concert.
