    LAS celebrates Homecoming with activities

  • The College of Liberal Arts and Sciences hosted several alumni on campus during Homecoming 2005.

Activities ranged from presentations in classrooms by returning alumni to a reunion of almost 400 alumni marching band members to a Sunday afternoon concert featuring the talents of four Department of Music alumni.

    ALUMNI BAND
Almost 300 of the 400 members of the Alumni Band alumni of the group marched on the field during halftime of the football game Saturday, celebrating the group's 25th anniversary. The Alumni Band has performed annually during halftime of the Homecoming game each year since 1981. Former directors of the Cyclone Marching Band were also in attendance and were recognized at halftime including Jimmie Howard Reynolds, Will Rapp, Dan Phillips, Roger Cichy, Martin Province, and Dustin Seifert.

    MUSIC CONCERT
Four distinguished Iowa State University music alumni participated in the ISU Wind Ensemble concert Sunday afternoon in the Martha-Ellen Tye Recital Hall.

The concert featured the premiere of a composition entitled "Fastidious Notes" by Jay Kawarsky performed by the ISU Wind Ensemble with fellow alumnus saxophonist Paul Bro.

Others participating in the concert will be fellow music alumni and award winners Wayne Bailey and Alan Greiner.
