Concert concludes Homecoming activities at Iowa State University
A special Homecoming concert featuring two professional opera singers will conclude a weeklong series of activities at Iowa State University.
The Department of Music will present "The Homecoming Concert" with Simon Estes and Carol Wilson Sunday, Oct. 21, at 3 p.m. in Stephens Auditorium. The two opera stars will join the ISU Wind Ensemble, ISU Symphony Orchestra and the Iowa State Singers in a celebration of Iowa State's sesquicentennial.
Estes is the F. Wendell Miller Distinguished Artist-in-Residence at Iowa State, while Wilson is an Iowa State alumna who sings professionally in Germany.
Both Estes and Wilson will perform with the ISU Symphony Orchestra. Estes will sing "I Got Plenty O'Nuttin" from Gershwin's Porgy and Bess, while Wilson will sing Wagner's "Dich, teure Halle" from Tanhauser.
The Wind Ensemble is conducted by Michael Golemo, chair of the Department of Music, while Ruth Lin directs the ISU Symphony Orchestra. James Rodde is the director of the Iowa State Singers.
