ISU Theatre to host college theatre festival
ISU Theatre will host the Region V Kennedy Center American College Theatre
Festival (KCACTF) Jan. 21-27. More than 1800 college theatre students and faculty
members are expected to attend.
The festival includes a series of workshops, acting competitions, displays and
productions of both original and more traditional plays. Events will be held
in Stephens Auditorium, Fisher Theater, the Maintenance Shop in the Memorial
Union and the Ames City Auditorium.
Plays are scheduled to be presented by the University of Kansas, Minnesota State
University, Nebraska Wesleyan University, Wichita State University, the University
of Nebraska-Lincoln, Wartburg College and Emporia State. Theatre students and
faculty from Iowa, Missouri, Kansas, Minnesota, North Dakota, South Dakota and
Nebraska will participate in the festival.
A special one-woman show, "Cheer from Chawton: A Jane Austen Family Theatrical,"
will be given by professional actor Karen Eterovich.
"This is a wonderful opportunity for our students and faculty to observe
productions from other universities and see what types of shows they are doing,"
said Jane Cox, director of ISU Theatre and the regional festival's host.
"Every participant should be inspired to an even higher level of creativity
in the performing arts."
ISU Theatre's Brad Dell is co-coordinating the festival with Cox.
