  • Iowa State University's Department of Music will present the 43rd annual Madrigal Dinners Friday and Saturday, Jan. 18-19, 2008, in the Great Hall of Iowa State's Memorial Union.

This year's production is held in cooperation with the Story County Pork Producers Association.

Both evenings' activities will begin with a social hour at 5:30 p.m. with the fanfare for dinner scheduled at 6:30 p.m.

Tickets are $36 for regular admission and $30 for Iowa State students, senior citizens and groups of 10 or more.

Tickets may be purchased one of three ways including by mail to ISU Madrigal Dinner Tickets, c/o Steve Satterlee, East S.O.S., ISU Memorial Union, 2229 Lincoln Way, Iowa State University, Ames, IA 50011. Checks must be made payable to ISU Madrigal Dinner and no credit cards will be accepted.

The 43rd annual Madrigal Dinners feature a candlelit 17th century banquet hall filled with the ambiance of a festive Renaissance English court. The banquet will be "attended" by graceful dancers, playful jesters, strolling musicians, frolicking fools and gallivanting wenches.

Entertainment will be provided the Iowa State Singers, The Music Men, Musica Antiqua and the ISU Orchesis II.

Guests will also be treated to the sounds of period instruments including the bladder pipe, the hammered dulcimer, the serpent, the lizard, the zink, the ever-popular krummhorns, the organetto, and the hurdy-gurdy.

For more information contact the ISU Memorial Union Box Office at 515-294-8349.
