September 15, 2008Major Fair - One-stop shopping for ISU students looking for majorsCurrent Iowa State University students still undecided on their major choice or those wishing to add or change their major or minor will have an opportunity to do just that at the annual Major Fair Friday, Sept. 26. The event, coordinated by the College of Liberal Arts and Sciences (LAS), will be held from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. that day in the Sun Room of the Memorial Union. Academic departments from every undergraduate college at Iowa State will be represented at the Major Fair. Other campus offices and programs, such as college study abroad and career service offices, will also have a booth at the event. The departments will provide information to open option (undecided) students, students wishing to change or add a major or minor, and prospective transfer students. Approximately 20 percent of Iowa State freshmen come to campus without a major. The average Iowa State undergraduate will change their major two or three times before graduating. A large number of Iowa State students also will add a second or even third major and/or a minor during their undergraduate career. |
