Morgan family adds additional Greenlee School scholarship
The family of Gaylin Morgan, a 1962 graduate in journalism at Iowa State University,
has established an additional scholarship for the Greenlee School of Journalism
and Communication in his honor.
Morgan originally initiated the fund in 2001 to provide scholarship support
for students in journalism . An additional $100,000 has been pledged by the
family in his memory. Gaylin Morgan passed away in January 2005.
The Morgan and Myers Employees Scholarship Fund will now offer an additional
scholarship for juniors and seniors enrolled in the public relations program
in the Greenlee School.
Gaylin Morgan was president and co-founder of Morgan & Myers, a public relations
firm in Wisconsin specializing in agricultural accounts. Under Morgan's
leadership his company expanded with a Minneapolis office and a new focus on
the food industry, serving such clients as General Mills, Kraft Foods and Altria
Group Inc.
Morgan, a former member of the Greenlee School Advisory Council, also formed
the public relations firm Gayle F. Morgan & Associates in Wisconsin in the
early 1970s.
Morgan's wife Carol continues to reside in Jefferson, Wis.
The gift was made through the ISU Foundation, a private, non-profit corporation
dedicated to securing and managing gifts and grants that benefit Iowa State
University.
