November 3, 2008Opera Studio performance Thursday, Nov. 6Opera Studio’s fall concert, Thursday, Nov. 6, at Martha-Ellen Tye Recital Hall, will be an Opera Gala featuring the music of Johannes Srauss II. Opera Studio is a performance preparation class that uses a workshop format. Topics that are explored include audition preparation, acting and singing improvisation, basic stagecraft, and scene preparation. There are twenty-one singers in Opera Studio this semester, which is large for a performance class. Opera Studio is a required for both vocal performance and education majors. This very talented studio of singers will share their talents with a performance of Act II from the operetta “Die Fledermaus”. This festive, party scene includes guest performances by two of the Music Departments outstanding faculty artists, Donald Simonson, tenor, and Mahlon Darlington, violin. The Opera Studio Gala is Thursday evening at 7:30 p.m. in the Martha-Ellen Tye Recital Hall. Admission is free of charge. Mary Creswell is the director of Opera Studio, and Joshua Grunmann serves as musical director. | ||
