Plaza of Heroines registry available both at the site and on-line
-
A complete directory of the Plaza of Heroines at Iowa State University
is now available at the site.
Located in front of Catt Hall, the Plaza of Heroines contains over 3,200
bricks with the names of women who, as role models, made an impact on
families, communities, and society as mothers, teachers, wives, scientists,
friends and activists. Family and friends placed the bricks there as donations.
A book containing a registry of every woman's named honored with a brick
is now available outside of Catt Hall, 24 hours a day, seven days a week,
on a small podium-like structure attached to the building underneath the
main stairway. The registry includes the location of each brick within
the Plaza of Heroines and will be updated periodically as more bricks
are added.
A full registry is also available on Iowa State's College of Liberal Arts
and Sciences (LAS) web site at
www.las.iastate.edu/kiosk. The registry also includes a statement
why the woman is being honored, the location of her brick within the Plaza
of Heroines, the donor's names, and if provided, her biography and photo.
The registry is also contained in a computer kiosk on the second floor
of Catt Hall and is available only during normal business hours.
Individuals who wish to recognize an important woman in their lives may
do so by contacting Jaye Stefani in LAS at 515-294-7740. Bricks are available
for $100. Other levels of recognizing women in the Plaza of Heroines include
a medium granite paver, $500; large granite paver, $1,000; and a bench,
$10,000.
