Russian film comedies screened at Iowa State
A look at comedy in Russian movies will be highlighted during the annual REEES
Film Festival at Iowa State University.
"Laughter Behind the Iron Curtain: Festival of Russian Film Comedy"
will be presented by the Russian, East European and Eurasian Studies (REEES)
program in the College of Liberal Arts and Sciences. The film series is co-sponsored
by the REEES Student Club and the University Honors Program.
Each film will be screened at 6:30 p.m. in 0001 Carver Hall. The film festival
is free and open to the public.
The series will kickoff with the 1973 Russian comedy "Ivan Vasilievich
Changes His Occupation" directed by Leonid Gaidai Monday, March 26.
Other films in the REEES Film Festival include:
- April 4 - "Window to Paris" (1993), directed by Yuri Mamin
- April 19 - "Peculiarities of National Hunt" (1995), directed
by Alexander Rogozhkin.
