Computer Science Department receives software gift from Serena, Software,
Inc.
The Department of Computer Science at Iowa State University has received a
gift with a commercial value of $109,692 from Serena Software, Inc.
The gift consists of 44 academic licenses for Serena Requirements Traceability
Management (RTM™) tools and the necessary Oracle run-time components.
"The gift will allow students and faculty to have access to a world-class
requirements engineering tool and will be a valuable asset for both research
and pedagogical pursuits," said Carl Chang, professor and chair of the
Department of Computer Science.
Serena Software, Inc., has customers at more than 15,000 sites worldwide including
98 of the Fortune 100, and they rely on its solutions to improve IT governance,
mitigate risks, support regulatory compliance, and boost productivity and quality.
Douglas D. Troxel is the founder and chairman of Serena and has served as the
president and chief executive officer of the firm. Troxel holds a B.S. in mathematics
from Iowa State.
The gift was made through the ISU Foundation, a private, non-profit corporation
dedicated to securing and managing gifts and grants that benefit Iowa State
University.
