Shin receives LAS research award

Iowa State University's College of Liberal Arts and Sciences (LAS) has honored 25 faculty and staff with awards for their accomplishments.

Among the recipients is Yeon-Kyun Shin, professor of biochemistry, biophysics and molecular biology, who was awarded the LAS Excellence in Research/Artistic Creativity Award.

The recipients will be formally recognized in the fall during the LAS Faculty/Staff Convocation on Wednesday, Sept. 5.

Shin's research has received critical acclaim both nationally and internationally. Since joining Iowa State in 2000, he has established a research program of the highest quality that is currently supported by two National Institute of Health grants. His research focus includes exploring the structure of the neuronal SNARE complex.
