WORKSHOPS
CATT ASSOCIATES - "From Debt to Dollars," a financial
workshop designed to educate young women on the importance of understanding
and improving their financial situations will be sponsored by the Catt Associates,
a student organization affiliated with the Catt Center for Women and Politics.
The workshop will be held Saturday, Feb. 17, from 9 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. in
the Memorial Union.

SCHOLARSHIP APPLICATIONS - Applications deadlines for scholarships
in the College of Liberal Arts and Sciences is approaching. The deadlines
vary by department but the LAS scholarship deadline is February 15. An on-line
application and additional information on all LAS scholarships is available
on the LAS web site.

STUDY ABROAD SCHOLARSHIPS - LAS students who are planning to study
abroad in this summer or during the 2007 fall semester can apply for a LAS
study abroad scholarship. The deadline for summer programs is March 1 and
the fall program deadline is April 15.

MAJOR FAIR - Looking to select or maybe change your current major?
Looking to add a minor to your course of study? The second annual Major
Fair hosted by the College of Liberal Arts and Sciences can provide you
with the information to make those decisions. More than 60 academic units
from throughout campus will be in the Great Hall of the Memorial Union,
Wednesday, February 21, from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m.

STUDENT FEATURES
WHITE HOUSE #1 - For someone who had never before been to Washington,
D.C., junior journalism and mass communication major Fred Love had an opportunity
few will ever have in the nation's capital as he was honored with Iowa State's
first-ever Hugh S. Sidey Scholarship. Love was honored at the White House
in a special ceremony featuring First Lady Laura Bush and former President
George H.W. Bush.

WHITE HOUSE #2 - Ben Cameron didn't know anyone at the White House.
But that didn't stop the December 2006 political science major from first
applying, and then, getting an internship at the White House where he worked
in the Office of Presidential Correspondence.

AWARDS
NOMINATIONS SOUGHT - The Center for Excellence in Learning and
Teaching is sponsoring a recognition and awards luncheon to honor Iowa State
faculty, advisors and others who act as exemplary teachers to Iowa State
students. The nomination process is easy - students simply send a brief
e-mail with the teacher's name and a brief description of how this teacher
has helped that student in his or her education at Iowa State. Send the
