ACADEMIC NEWS
MAJOR FAIR - Looking to select or maybe change your current major?
Looking to add a minor to your course of study? The second annual Major
Fair hosted by the College of Liberal Arts and Sciences can provide you
with the information to make those decisions. Academic units from throughout
campus will be in the Great Hall of the Memorial Union, Wednesday, February
21, from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m.

HONORS PROGRAM - A series of informational meetings are scheduled for
LAS Honors Program students. The college requirements for graduating in
Honors will be reviewed as well as a general overview of the program and
the students' Honors projects. The informational meetings are set for Monday,
February 19, Tuesday, February 27, and Wednesday, March 7, each beginning
at noon in 302 Catt Hall.
PRE-LAW - "Preparation for Law School Seminar Course" (LAS 290C)
will be held in the fall semester and is limited to 25 students. The course
will explore law related careers, develop strategies to prepare for the
LSAT and become familiar with law school requirements. If you are interested

LEADERSHIP ISU - The Memorial Union will offer a one-hour course
in the fall designed to help freshmen and sophomore students (60 credits
and under) understand their own leadership style and prepare them to become
campus leaders. The course will provide students with an array of learning
opportunities, resources and the opportunity to work with current campus
leaders. University Studies 170 will meet Wednesdays from 10-11:50 a.m.

STUDY ABROAD SCHOLARSHIPS - LAS students who are planning to study
abroad this summer or during the 2007 fall semester can apply for a LAS
study abroad scholarship. The deadline for summer programs is March 1 and
the fall program deadline is April 15.

SOFTWARE ENGINEERING - The software engineering major, which is
jointly administered by the College of Liberal Arts and Sciences and the
College of Engineering has a new web site.

BEST IN THE WEST - The Cyclone Battalion in the Department of Military
Science has been identified as the top ROTC leadership program with the
MacArthur Award among schools west of the Mississippi.

BARRON AWARD - Rohini Ramnath, a senior majoring in political science,
Spanish and international studies, is one of five students selected for
the ISU Alumni Association's Wallace E. Barron All-University Senior Award.

ARCADIA - ISU Theatre will present its first production of the
spring semester Feb. 23-25 and March 2-4. Scenes alternate between the present
and the 19th century in Tom Stoppard's prize-winning play "Arcadia."
