    ISU Theatre announces spring season.

  • Two classic stories highlight the 2004 spring ISU Theatre schedule at Iowa State University.

"Little Women," adapted from the Louisa M. Alcott novel, will open the season in late February.

Another classic tale, "Fiddler on the Roof," will be this year's Stars Over VEISHEA (SOV) production April 16-17 in Stephens Auditorium.

Other ISU Theatre productions include "Emma's Child" in March and "Glengarry Glen Ross" in late April.

The 2004 spring ISU Theatre season includes:

Little Women - ISU Theatre's Jane Cox has adapted the Alcott novel of four sisters for the stage. Meg, Jo, Beth and Amy are young girls when their father leaves to serve with the Union Army. Their mother helps them through illness, work, romance, and finally marriage as the girls are reunited with their father and ultimately grow into women. Feb. 27-28, March 5-6 - 7:30 p.m.; Feb. 29 & March 7 - 2 p.m. Fisher Theater

Emma's Child - This student-produced piece is the story of Jean and Henry Farrell, who, after years of unsuccessfully attempting to have a baby of their own, decide to adopt. When the baby is born hydrocephalic and will not live long, the Farrells' marriage is threatened. March 25-27 - 7:30 p.m.; March 28 - 2 p.m. Fisher Theater

Fiddler on the Roof - Produced in conjunction with VEISHEA, "Fiddler on the Roof" is a classic Broadway musical. As Tevye searches for appropriate husbands for his three oldest daughters, he discovers that all three wish to marry for love. At the same time, the village in which they all live undergoes violent changes as the Jewish villagers face persecution within their native Russia.

The musical features such familiar songs as "If I Were a Rich Man" and "Sunrise, Sunset." April 16-17 - 7:30 p.m.; April 17 - 2 p.m. Stephens Auditorium

Glengarry Glen Ross - A small-time real estate salesman tries to grind out a living by pushing plots of land to reluctant buyers. A sale can mean a new Cadillac, but the loss of one could mean the loss of everything. This David Mamet play contains adult language. April 22-24 - 7:30 p.m.; April 25 - 2 p.m. Maintenance Shop, Memorial Union

Tickets are $11 for adults, $10 for seniors and $5.50 for students and children for "Little Women" and "Glengarry Glen Ross." Tickets are $13-$18 for adults, $8-$12 for students and children for the performance of "Fiddler on the Roof." Tickets for "Emma's Child" are $4 for adults and senior citizens and $2 for students.

All ISU Theatre tickets are available at the Iowa State Center Ticket office at 515-294-3347.
