Four ISU students awarded prizes for Western European Studies Program
essay contest

Four students at Iowa State University have been awarded prizes for the
second annual Western European Studies Program essay contest in the College
of Liberal Arts and Sciences.
Peter Bovenmyer, a senior art and design major, won first place and $150
for his essay, "The Soul's Depiction in Medieval Art." Second
prize went to senior history major Emily Lowry for "Lesen als Leben
(Reading as Life)". She won $100.
Two students tied for third place and each received $50 including Darin
Hayne, "Perpetua and Tacitus as Historians" and Jessica Nanke,
"Finding Swift in a Divine Setting: Cadenus and Venessa."
Hayne is a junior history major, while Nanke is a senior English major.
