Women’s Studies Program hosts Wine, Women and Song fundraiser

AMES, Iowa – Iowa State University's Women's Studies faculty, staff and students will host its second annual Wine, Women and Song fundraiser on Friday, Sept. 25, 5:30-8:30 p.m. at Prairie Moon Winery in Ames.

The cost of the event is $15 and will feature musical performances by local musicians, dinner and non-alcoholic beverages and a silent auction. Wine will be available to purchase from the winery. All of the money raised at the silent auction will used for scholarships or other student funding opportunities in the Women’s Studies Program.

“We are hoping to raise funds to continue to provide undergraduate and graduate scholarships and to establish some additional funds to help students with their professional development needs,” said Dawn Bratsch-Prince, interim director of the Women’s Studies Program.

“Last year we raised close to $4,000. We are working hard to collect a variety of items for the auction from our local businesses and artists. Our goal is to increase that amount this year.”

Tickets are $15 and are available by contacting the Women’s Studies Program at 515-294-0578 or visiting the Women’s Studies office at 309 Catt Hall, Iowa State University. The event will be held at Prairie Moon Winery, located at 3801 W. 190th St. in Ames.

The Women’s Studies Program at Iowa State University has been in existence since 1977. It has grown from a few cross-listed courses to serving hundreds of students every semester. It currently offers a major, minor and a graduate minor. Each year the program offers a graduate and undergraduate scholarship.
