Liberal Arts and Sciences Honors Program

LAS Honors Requirements

Membership in LAS Honors requires students to develop a program of study that reflects the intellectual depth and breadth that distinguish Honors curricula from the standard criteria for graduation.

Requirements for Admission:

  • 3.35 ISU cumulative grade point average
  • At least 48 credits remaining in degree program
  • Development of a degree program that has been approved by adviser(s) for major(s) and minor(s). The program must include
    • A minimum of 60 credits at the 300-level or above
    • A lab science course
    • 6 credits of 300-level coursework in general education group(s) outside the group of the primary major.
    • 2 Honors seminars (Hon 321 or 322)
    • 2 Honors courses or 500+ courses
    • Answers to three questions that reflect on the goals of the degree program, what makes it an Honors program, and an idea for an Honors project
  • Completion of Program of Study Application (Word Format)
  • Program of Study Instructions (Word Format)
Requirements to Graduate in Honors:
  • Maintain a 3.35 ISU cumulative grade point average
  • Complete a Honors project and present findings at a Honors Poster Session
  • No coursework taken under the pass/not pass option without approval of the LAS Honors Committee
