Old Business
A. VEISHEA - meeting with Dave, College will have one large tent south of Catt Hall like last year.  What involvement for the council this year?  Last year we were involved in parade; dean came with us.  Was fun.  What involvement do you want?  Parade?  LAS Tent?  Etc.?

  • [Chem] Parade's good - high visibility thing.
  • [Pres] Dean rode in convertible with us, we walked with placards representing all the majors/dept's in the LAS College, got shirts (paid for by the council).  Know other councils will do impressive things.  Dave talked about possibly having a big balloon - don't know price yet, sure the college would help cover cost of it.
  • [Physics] Volunteers needed
  • [Pres] Other ideas?  Parade entries due Feb. 15th or so.
  • [Pres] Tent wouldn't do anything necessarily, could have table, though.  Dave wants band to swing by or something; otherwise will be LAS Dept's there. Other ideas?
  • [Music] Like idea of walking along w/ Dean.
  • [Pres] threw out candy last year, was fun.  Will talk more at the meeting on the 6th.  Will talk to Dean about interest in doing it again.

New Business
A. Laura Vernon Scholarship

  • Scholarship specifically for representatives on the LAS Council.  Last year had 2 scholarships - $1000 each.  Application to fill out, will be due end of March, beginning of April - will get it to you in the next week or so.

B. Special Conference Funding Applications

  • Can be turned in at any time - for sure must be in by Mar. 26th, but if know will go to conference before then, come to us and let us know and can get money earlier than that.  Club allocation forms will be due at that same time.
  • [Geo] Applications - individual or club?
  • [Pres] one club, one event.   Just list who will be going to the conference on the application.
