  • Dean Whiteford coming in two weeks 28th– make sure we have pizza and pop for the meeting.
  • Is there money in the scholarship fund? Don't know, will find out.
  • Elections for officers for next year – get names of people who are going to run at meeting, send an e-mail, next meeting actually vote.
  • The due date on funding request forms will be changing to Mar. 21st. We'll be moving our meeting to the 21st

VEISHEA
LAS College day: Greenlee School of Journalism has most of the VEISHEA stuff under control anyway, but the VEISHEA committee wansts more people to be represented, if clubs want to do a display, let Leah know or find the contact on the VEISHEA website.;

VEISHEA village: Dave needs help to get things done and to help with the big display. Dave wants to know who else and what other departments will be having displays, etc. So far the clubs with stuff outside of the LAS tent are Naval Science, SCUM, Psychology, and English.

Parade: Dave regestered us for it: our idea is to have a big banner for LAS college, then little banners for different majors, or such; then different costumes for different departments. Talk to clubs and see who would be interested in helping out in this exhibit in the parade. The parade is on Saturday.

VEISHEA committee: meeting 21st at 5:10; bring t-shirt ideas with you to the committee. Please pass on the VEISHEA information to your clubs.
Constitution and Bylaws: read them so we can vote at the next meeting; copies of current draft of Constitution, Bylaws, and Appendices were e-mailed out. If you want a copy e-mailed you, contact Tim @ treineke@iastate.edu

Constitution
Art. 2, section A: re-prioritize these the main purpose is to serve as a student governance representative body. Other aspects of that are relevant: what are we advising the dean of the college on? Some times he may not want/need advice. Feeling of unity should stay a high priority, the rest is good.

Concerns about including Liberal Studies and Open Option – these people don't meet as a group, so even if we included, how would they be represented? Open option is basically a holding pattern. Suggest these two be removed. Those people can join one of the other clubs if they want to be represented.

Biology, BPMI, Premed/preprofessional Health programs are interdepartmental, so they wouldn't be represented otherwise. They need to stay in the Constitution.

Fix wording of Art. III, Sect. A, subsect 1.D.

Qual and Dut. 3. Every organization shall be represented.; academic year

Sect. C: 1.D. Advisor shouldn't have veto power over the organization. Question about how Dean is related to the operations of the Council. Tim/Council should talk to Dean about this.

Bylaws
1.3. Make a provision allowing for substitutes.

Typo – fix the numbering of Chapter 7.

Dean will be coming in two weeks

got ignorance?
Do we want to pledge with got ignorance? Zaal motioned to support, seconded. Motion passes without opposition. Leah: Talk to clubs about the got ignorance? campaign.

Zaal: GSB announcement:

  • Get people who are excited about the Student Body, people with good ideas to be interested. Make this announcement personally to clubs. Can probably win with 30 votes.
  • Today was rededication of the Black Cultural Center – it's on 517 Welch. Amazing accomplishment for the BSA. In the same location as it used to be.
  • Ice cream social – will discuss it later.
  • Laura Vernon scholarship – will check into how much money we have for that, will get applications out soon – hopefully talk about later.
  • Elections – will have elections on Mar. 21st for new officers for the LAS Council. If interested, give name to President Leah. She will also send out brief descriptions of the positions as well.
  • If you're graduating, make sure to have someone lined up to take your place for next year.
