LAS Student Council Meeting Minutes

The LAS Council has one massive account into which the GSB deposits fund

• this account currently has about $12,000
• dispersal is differential - depending on club membership size, the LAS council will disperse the appropriate funds to said club (generally this involves a flat dollar amount given to every club plus a varying additional dollar amount to adjust for membership size differential)
• this is why, when the time comes a roster, signatures from club president, treasurer, and advisor and a club bank account number will all be needed in order for the council to allocate funds

We heard briefly from our representative to the GSB

• the GSB is going over secondary allocations
• nondiscriminatory policies for campus student organizations are being reviewed

If any club holds a conference here:

• unless said club cannot afford to pay for the conference out of standard budgeted funds, only then will money be appropriated by the GSB to the club after an application for funds has been submitted

Your club may be able to receive additional funding for VEISHA

• dependant on number of clubs requesting additional funds for that event

One week after Thanksgiving break, the dean of the LAS College will be at the meeting to speak with us

• be there and rep. your club, straight up
• some clubs still have yet to send a rep. to our LAS council meetings
• if your club wants funding for next semester, it must have at least one rep. come to meetings

There was a short meeting of officers, post-main meeting. This is what was discussed:

• Forms for regular club funding will be sent out via email, soon
  • there have been some issues locating the original PDF of the form, but that should be solved post-haste
  • don't worry about your club not receiving funding for this semester; the council’s allocations of funds generally takes a semester to cycle through, so your club's funds for this semester have already been allocated
  • however, in order to receive funding for next semester, the prerequisite form mentioned above will still need to be filled out THIS semeste
  • the conference attendance/additional funding request form is also in limbo, but will be available very soon
• We as a Council will be getting table tents made with our department names to help meetings run more smoothly
