Scholarships

This document catalogs approximately 45 scholarships which are awarded to current College of Liberal Arts and Sciences (LAS) students at Iowa State University. At this time scholarships are awarded by LAS departments and programs as well as the College. The website has been created to aid students who may be considering attending LAS or who are currently enrolled in a department or program within LAS.

In addition to scholarships for current students, the College of Liberal Arts and Sciences offers four scholarships for first-year students. They are the American Indian Scholarship, the Theresa E. Beneke Memorial Pre-Med Scholarship, the Katherine C. Mather Memorial Pre-Law Scholarship and the Carolee Raps MD & Lawrence Brecker MD Scholarship.

The department and college scholarships linked here are by no means the full extent of the scholarships available. Additional scholarships awarded by the University can be located on the Office of Financial Aid website. Still others are awarded by outside organizations. Scholarships might be added or dropped, or criteria for scholarships may change during the year. Check this website frequently for updates or changes.

Scholarships normally have some type of eligibility criteria such as the applicant's high school or college grades, ACT or SAT scores, hometown residence, financial need, or a combination of these. Each scholarship and award has a listing of the requirement criteria listed along with individual or departmental contacts when applicable.
