Sharon Bird is an Associate Professor in the Department of Sociology. Her research and teaching focus on social inequality (race/class/gender) and social justice, with a particular emphasis on diversity in work organizations. Dr. Bird's most recent research project centers on issues of gender and race inequalities in small business ownership and success. She is also developing a course module on the topic of global perspectives on gender stereotypes and nationalism (with Ukraine partner Sergei Zherebkin) as part of the ISU-Kharkiv University Partnership Grant.
